Found myself at a pretty cool place the other night . Living near the Delamar Loop in STL has many perks, we have some of the greatest food in town, a fun bar, and good coffee. We also have some famous music venues like Blueberry Hill and The Pageant. Being the music person I am, barely knowing the bands let alone the songs I listen to, I was pretty clueless to the music scene here. But, that’s what you have friends for and the night of November 5th I found myself at The Pageant dancing till 12:30am to Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. A band I never heard of. There’s not much more to say other then if you get a chance to see this band you will not be disappointed! So much energy, a fun crowd, and 200 hundred shows a year to bake in a truly special experience.
If you don’t care about camera geekery you can skip this small interlude, but if you do I just want to make a quite point about camera equipment. All of these images were shot on a camera that came out in 2013 with some of the worst autofocus I’ve ever used, one fixed 35mm equivalent lense, a small battery that doesn’t last much past 150 shots and a slow grainy electronic viewfinder. All in all a camera most people would shrug at, but it did create these images. It’s alway important to realize that it is rarely the gear that makes the image it’s how you use your camera, edit, and shoot in the moment. Who needs a $6,000 set up when this $350 camera can make images like these and I can still dance with it?
