There are so many things this last semester that made it feel truly special and one of the greatest was absolutely the Wet Bowser Concert at Ethan’s (blue guitar) house. It was the culmination of serendipitous encounters between friends, avoiding engineering homework on the weekends, and the exciting chance to place music with everyone we knew. As Marino (red guitar) would say the band wasn’t very good, but they were fun, I would probably say the band was good and fun. Either way they played a 2.5 hour set of +20 songs that night. We were all sauced up by jungle joose, Brian made hamburgers, all surrounded by crowd of friends. These are the things that you will always remember and for me it was even more special because I got to spend that night with dear friends as well as with wonderful girlfriend Catherine. We danced till 1:30am walked back to Westgate and woke up to find a beautiful day and some solid hangovers. A memory that will live rent free forever in my head!
Beyond the memories made that night I also knew I wanted to record the happening of that night in a special way. So I brought the trusty Fuji X100s for digital and my first medium format camera, the Mamiya C3, along with my under-utilized flash. That night without an appropriate light meter and being a bit tipsy I literally guessed every exposure and flash setting for the following pictures. Needless to say it somehow worked and now these memories are now baked in silver bromide.
