When I think back to the memories that will really stick with me forever from my last year in school, my time in the in Smokey Mountain National Park with Catherine will definitely make the list. It was a time of year where things were starting to ramp up, we were starting to feel the semester go by and all I could think of is running away to some mountains. So within a week we planned a three day trip to a national park I’ve always wanted to see with my own eyes. Staying in Smokemont Campground we enjoyed the soft trickle of the creek and people watching as the area filled with spring breakers from all over the U.S. My favorite thing was waking up in the morning, dunking our heads in the river and drinking the cool water through my new Lifestraw.
Connections made in places like these are special to me. I’m not sure if it’s from the clean air and natural sounds that envelop our senses. Or if there’s truly something mystical about being high in the air surrounded by the rugged life clinging to the mountain. Either way I’m sure I’ll make it back to with wonderful place someday and make even more memories. Looking back at these photos fills me with warmth and puts a smile on my face. I also shot a bunch of black and white film on my Yashica Mat 124G and Pentax 67 that I may share at some point.
