The photography I love the most is being able to tell stories visually and take people to the place I go. But as a photographer I also like a challenge when the conditions are right. This is the second time I have done an engagement shoot and honestly I’m starting to really enjoy doing them. For me it’s easy to find the right composition, good light, and press the shutter button to make an image. What hard is the amazing guy feeling ready to commit to a person for life. In a sense I feel like I got the easy job, but at the same time the pressure to create a perfect image with little influence from me sure makes it a challenge.
For this shoot I scouted the location a couple days before the actual event and the smoke was so think I couldn’t even see the sun. It honestly worried me and I thought an image with those conditions freaked me out a little so I hope the conditions would change. Luckily things got much better the day of the actual event. The sun was a beautiful golden orange and it was diffused like it was golden hour. The shade was impressively comfortable so I ended up just waiting under a tree for both of them to show up.
My nerves always get going when things like this happen, even though all I have to do is get the picture. So hiding behind the bush, I framed up the picture on the right. Luckily the light was good, the lens focused perfectly and I was stable enough to get the shot. I knew that after getting this image all I’d have to do is break the tension and do some portraits. I think everyone was shaking but after some time we settled down and made the rest of the images. Enjoy.
